Looking for a Hitched table planner alternative? An honest comparison
A quick note before we start: we built Seated, one of the tools in this comparison. We have tried to be fair, and we say plainly where Hitched is the better choice. Features and prices were checked in October 2026, so do check each site before you decide.
If you have been planning your wedding on Hitched, there is a good chance you have already found its table planner. It is free, it is familiar and it is sitting right there in your account. So why would anyone look for an alternative?
Usually it comes down to one of three things. The guest list is big and the family is complicated. You want help deciding where people go, not just a place to put them. Or you simply want a dedicated tool that does one job well.
What the Hitched table planner does well
It is completely free. Hitched says so on its own planner page, and all its planning tools are free. For a lot of couples that settles it.
It is connected to your guest list. If you built your guest list on Hitched, it syncs with the table planner. You can see who has a seat and who still needs one.
Groups make placing people easier. You can put guests into groups such as groom's family or uni friends.
RSVPs live in the same place. If you use a Hitched wedding website, RSVPs flow into the same guest list. That is a real advantage over standalone tools.
Table choices cover the basics. You can pick round or rectangular tables, plus a presidential-style top table, and set how many people sit at each.
Sharing is easy, and there is an app. You can view the plan as a chart or a list, then print, email or export it.
If your guest list is fairly simple and you are already using Hitched for everything else, its table planner may be all you need.
Where Hitched might not suit you
You do all the deciding. Hitched gives you a canvas: you drag each guest to a seat yourself. That works well for 40 guests. For 120 guests with a few sensitive relationships, the hard part is working out the arrangement. Hitched's planner pages describe drag and drop, groups and table options, but they do not describe a way to say these two must not share a table and have the tool check it.
It is part of a whole platform. That is a strength if you use the supplier directory, website and checklists. It is more than you need if you only want a seating plan.
Your guest list has to live there. If your list already lives in a Google Sheet that both families edit, you will be keeping two copies in step.
Why couples look for something different
Read any UK wedding forum thread about seating plans and the problem is nearly always the people. Divorced parents who should not be on neighbouring tables. A cousin who is not speaking to another cousin. Grandparents who need to be near the exit. A table of single friends you do not want to feel like the leftovers table.
Seated: what it does differently
Seated is the tool we built, so take this section with that in mind.
- Rules are part of the plan. You add rules like keep Karen and Dave apart, or seat Nan with Auntie Pat, and Seated treats them as real constraints.
- It suggests a full plan. One AI seating run is included on Free. You still drag anyone you like afterwards.
- CSV import from any spreadsheet, with one person per row.
- Mixed table shapes are a Pro feature.
- Venue-ready exports. A PNG of the room, watermarked on Free, and a CSV on Pro.
And where Seated is weaker, honestly:
- Free only goes up to 30 guests. Pro is £7.99 once. Hitched costs nothing at any size.
- No RSVPs or wedding website.
- No app. It runs in the browser.
- It is new. Seated launched in 2026.

How to choose
- How many guests are having the wedding breakfast? Only day guests usually need a seat.
- How many rules do you have? A short list is fine in any drag-and-drop planner.
- Where does the guest list live? Hitched is easiest if it is already there. A spreadsheet suits a CSV import.
- What does the venue want? A name list, or a room layout?
Moving your guest list out of Hitched
Hitched lets you download your guest list. Open it in Excel or Google Sheets, check there is one guest per row, then save it as a CSV. Our free CSV guest list template shows a simple layout if you want to tidy the columns first.
If that sounds like you, you can try Seated free with up to 30 guests.
Quick answers
Is the Hitched table planner free?
Yes. Hitched says its planning tools, including the table planner, are free at any guest list size.
When is Seated a better fit than Hitched?
When you want rules for who must sit together or stay apart, a suggested plan rather than only drag and drop, or a CSV import from a spreadsheet you already use.
